Accessibility

A sofa is a considered purchase, and nobody should have to fight the website to make it. Here is where we are, and what we know is still imperfect.

What we have done

Text is set at 15 to 17 pixels with generous line height, body contrast exceeds WCAG AA, interactive controls are at least 44 pixels tall on touch screens, the mobile menu uses large targets, and every image carries descriptive alternative text. Filtering and sorting work by keyboard, and no content is hidden behind hover alone.

Where we fall short

The dimension tables are visually dense; on a narrow screen they scroll horizontally. The plan diagrams describe their content in text, but the measurements they show are repeated as HTML tables so nothing essential lives only inside an image. Some archive pages of the journal may not yet have full alternative text on decorative imagery.

Motion

Scroll transitions are short and subtle. If you have reduced motion enabled in your operating system, transitions are minimised. No content depends on animation to become visible or readable.

Tell us

If something is unreadable, unreachable or simply awkward, tell us through the contact page and we will fix it. We would also happily read a specification to you over the phone if that is easier.
